July 3, 2017

In the early morning of July 1st, Liverpool was alerted to respond mutual aid to the Moyers Corners fire district on an upgraded multiple occupancy apartment fire. Originally the call came in for a fire alarm activation but was upgraded when a second caller reported flames in the window. Car 2 (Ormsby) and Engine 2 (Laakso) responded. Car 2 was first to arrive with smoke showing and people outside stating there was a person still inside the apartment. Police were at the landing of the second floor, held back by the smoke but were in communication with someone in the apartment who could not get out due to the fire in the kitchen. Chief Ormsby was able to reach the victim and bring him outside where EMS was waiting. MCFD Truck 2 and Engine 31 were first arriving, followed by LFD Engine 2 which secured a hydrant. The fire was quickly knocked down and units began checking for extension. The fire was held to the room of origin and was left under investigation. Units were returned to service within an hour.
