Just after 0230hrs Liverpool was requested for a heavy rescue, mutual aid to Mattydale for an MVC with injuries. Upon the first Chiefs arrival, it was determined heavy extrication would be needed to remove the person inside. The vehicle was up against a metal fence inches away from going over and down the embankment. Mattydale and Hinsdale were first arriving and began shoring up the car and stretched a handline as precaution for Rescue 1’s(LT. Schaefer) arrival. Rescue 1’s crew secured the vehicle with chains and the winch to limit movement. Rescue 1 began quick work with Mattydale starting extrication. Rescue 1 folded the roof and did a vertical displacement of the back rear door to remove the patient. Extrication was complete at 35 minutes. The patient was turned over to NAVAC ambulance. Liverpool Car 1(Chief Payne) also assisted on scene with Rescue 1.
